MGC Christmas camp
The club will be holding its annual Christmas camp from the 26th Dec. to the 8th Jan. at Raywood, home of the Bendigo gliding club. Raywood is about 185km north of Melbourne via the Calder fwy, and about 30km north of Bendigo.
Accommodation is available at the Raywood Hotel 5436 1393, airfield camping $10 per night with showers & toilets, contact Mark Kerr 0417 005 986, or Bendigo itself about 25 minutes away with options to suit any budget.
It takes considerable effort to organise a camp, to help the organisers, we are introducing tools that will allow them to spend less time organising, and more time flying.
The club trialed a registration process for the Cup weekend camp that provided a high level view of who was going, and as a result we took more gliders.
For the Christmas camp we will be using a tool that will allow everyone to nominate when you will be at the camp, and what you plan to be doing. This information will drive the number, and type of club gliders we take, along with the level of aerotow launching.
We are providing a discount of $20 for those who register for the camp early, to encourage early registration which will assist the organisers in planning for anticipated demand. This year’s Christmas camp fee will $40 for those who register before December 12, and $60 for those who register on or after December 12.
This up front planning will help maximise the available flying opportunities for members, while ensuring the work that facilitates your flying is shared amongst everyone.

PS. Unlike Cup weekend, where the club was invited to participate in the annual Bendigo coaching event, the Christmas camp will be a club camp, where everyone attending will share the tug ferry costs, and the work. The tow rate will be higher to offset the higher fuel cost, and fuel delivery charges.
